The person speaking is Franco Costa who, with his brother
Sandro, have been working in the Food Entertainment field
for 25 years, designing and creating environments and stores
in many parts of the world. The two brothers work together
and agree on all of the guidelines for the company’s activities
including design, production, new materials, equipment
research, concept development as well as marketing strategies
and communication. Sandro manages the operational
and financial structure of the company guaranteeing the
economic, patrimonial and financial aspects of the company.
Franco leads the trade relations and marketing operations,
looks after the most important clients, personally coordinates
and controls the area managers; he is supported by an internal
Press department and he makes use of his Commercial
Department’s four Area Managers who represent Italy, Spain,
France and the foreign market in general. Moreover,
he coordinates the fitting, design and execution of
decorative graphics.
“We study new material solutions in an ever-changing world
with the idea of developing and turning contemporary again
what already existed in the past, paying great attention on
how it is blended. We have our own workshops dedicated to
processing wood, marble, resin, glass, iron, all of them located
within our area. We work on raw materials to produce
custom-made fittings. Each environment that we create is
unique in form, color, smell and music. We would like to
make it clear that we also work together with important outside
architectural studios, trying to design the ideal situation
according to the customer’s requirements. A “sui generis”
reality in a universe of companies that merely execute, produce
fittings by the pound, and in a universe of architectural
studios that merely draw, plan spaces and fittings more or
less in accordance to the real world. Well, we succeeded in
becoming the epitome of these two areas of knowledge,
theoretical and practical”.
Costa group was born in 1980 and the Srl company was established
in 1986 by Franco and Sandro Costa. At the beginning it was a small firm that operated in the field of sales and
assistance of equipment for bakeries and confectioneries as well as
the development of furniture for bakery retail, as a continuity of
the activity of Franco and Sandro’s father. Costa started with a
work force of 25 employees and developed its own production
range, starting with fitted bars. In the beginning of the 90’s it
developed a production range that is available today: fittings for ,
grocery stores, coffee houses, restaurants, tea rooms, wine tasting,
pizzerias, bars, hotels etc...
The market of reference changed from a local/regional identity to
a national identity (1990), and today, foreign markets represent
60% of their sales. at the same time the production area increased
from 2000 square meters to 11.000 square meters; and the employees
from 25 in 1986 to 100 employees today; the turnover is 14
millions Euros. Among their clients, Fiat, Heineken, Mallorca, leader
company in Spain for pastry production, Areas Group specialized
in restoration for big crowded public areas with shops in Mexico,
Morocco and Spain, the Spanish Fripan Group, with the chain of
shops “El Moli Vell”, innovative formulas of bakery and coffee,
Abades Group, handling food and beverages services for the
Congress Palace in Seville and Malaga; Banette Group, French
franchising for bakeries and gourmet tasting, the English chain of
pastry shops “A piece of cake” Compass Group in the underground
station in London, Giraudi Group in Monaco, specialized in food
industry, the “maître chocolatier” Christian Chéreau, the Europe
Hotels International Group with its luxury hotel Villa Cortes in
Tenerife, Lizarran Group, one of the most important Spanish companies
specialized in franchising of typical Spanish restaurants, Eric
Kayser and Alain Ducasse, master baker and worldwide reputation
chef respectively. Future projects: with ATA Hotels (study and
design Hotel Fiera Due in Milan), Gruppo Boscolo Hotel (study and
